Thursday of November is a national
holiday Thanksgiving . It has been
celebrated even before became a
nation.
The tradition is to have turkey, mash
potatoes, gravey, stuffing or dressing,
and sweet potatoes. For dessert
pumpkin pie with whip cream is
popular or apple pie or other pies.
Those who don't have turkey often
have ham as a substitute. I am sure
every family has their tradition.
The importance though is to spend
time with family or friends and be
thankful for our blessings.
During the day there is football game
on TV or a basketball game. A good
time to enjoy before dinner.
I am sure many cities have traditions
as well. In my town they have the Turkey
Trot which is a 5k run or walk if you
prefer in the morning. Mostly they go
in pairs or the whole family goes. They
are each given a number so to know
how many are participating.They often
stop at one of the coffee shops after
they finish. The trot takes around the
waterfront so the street is blocked off
during the race.
For many it is the favorite holiday of
the year. People travel for a distance
to visit family. Many take off Friday
as well which is the busiest day of
shopping for the holidays. Often
families will go get a Christmas Tree
too.
Besides fun it still comes down to
being thankful and something we
should do all year long. So Happy
Thanksgiving everyone! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
