Dungeness Crab from the northwest worldly renowned
View inside Anthony's Restaurant Gig Harbor Washington
Whether it is the travel
channel or a traveler’s blog food seems to be included a lot of the time. I
figure the same episode could be shown on the food channel as well. Ha Ha!
Actually it does make sense
because most people when they go traveling are interested in the food that is
available in those places. Also the fact we do get hungry.
I believe that food tells us a
lot about the place that we are visiting. For instance in my home town of Gig
Harbor we have a few restaurants that serve seafood. In fact my nephew Ian and
his wife Helen are coming down today from Seattle. They are looking to move to
New York City at the end of the month so they wanted to see and grandmother
before going. So we will be meeting at Anthony’s which is a popular seafood
restaurant and it is located on the waterfront. This is the reason we picked
Anthony’s besides the good food. Helen has never been to Gig Harbor before so
she can see the waterfront from Anthony’s and on the west side we can point out
where I and her father-in-law grew up. Actually there are several Anthony
restaurants in the area so she is familiar with them. Seattle along with
Bremerton has Anthony Restaurants. Good place to go for lunch or dinner when
you come to the area on a visit.
Gig Harbor we have several fast
food restaurants so easy to get a burger if you like and also several Mexican
restaurants in town as well for people in the northwest love Mexican food. There
are a lot of Mexicans that live in the area as well.
The northwest you can find a
lot of other restaurants that tailors to other international foods. Some like Chinese
though doesn’t always match up with what you would find in China.
I know that when traveling it
is a good idea to try the local foods to get an idea of the culture. If you are
there for several days I am sure you can find food that is more to your liking
so other words food that you’re more accustomed to eating.
Remember to visit the sites in the area
besides just eating. Laughing once again for your benefit and I can’t forget
that you can get coffee anywhere you want here in the northwest.
Here in Gig Harbor we have our
own local made beer along with wines and mini-brews. Something to try out as
well and enjoy your travels wherever you go.
