My sister when she returned home from her visit she emailed
me thanking for the good time we had and taking care of our mother. She ended up
mentioning how I used humor to help mother out when giving her medicine and doing
her exercises.
We all have several gifts and talents that we have available
to us on a daily basis. Although I would not say that humor is at the top of
the list I still believe it can be used along with the other gifts. When the
people we spend our time with or help whether we encourage them with compassion
or hospitality humor has a spot to be part of it as well. This is especially
true when someone is in grief or a dark valley. Humor will allow the person to
come out of grief or dark valley even if it is just for a few minutes. The funerals and memorial services I have
been to those who speak about the love one that has passed on talks about the
good times they shared and humor is always involved in it.
This is surely a good gift to have to go along with the other
ones. It is important though to keep the right perspective when using humor and
with whom you do it with as well. Everyone has a different way of handling
things. Although humor is good medicine it may not apply to everyone. Good day
and laugh when you can.
