People Of Influence

For the last several years I have been going to a church where preaching and teaching is a lot about being people of influence.

I have mentioned on occasions that we need to be people that have a purpose and a destiny. A person of influence makes an important part of our purpose and destiny.

There are three levels of influence. The top level of influence is those who minister or mentor us. The second level of influence is those who are on the same level as we are. These people are our friends and colleagues who we see ourselves as equals. The third level of influence is who we can mentor and minister too. They are either those who are new to the faith, struggling in life or young people.

The top level people are not only those we want to be mentored by we admire them and want our lives to be a lot like. Those on the second level like I say we consider friends or colleagues that we think of as being equal. These people we feel comfortable with and in some respect we would like to rise up with us in the ranks. Those on the third level are those who not only are below us in experience or age but we remember at one time being just like them. We would like them become mature in the faith and not make the same mistakes we had made. These people we feel comfortable with well as those in the second level. Most likely those in the second level we have known so long that they were with us in many ways when we were on level three.

We need to realize for the rest of our lives we will need to spend time with all three levels because we will never go above the third level. Those we admire are those we will do for the rest of our lives as well.

Being a champion like on a football team there will always be a captain. Whether we are the captain or not we still need to rely on all the other members of the team. The hardest part is continually being a team member. Often a successful team does not stay on top because the team members forget where they are at. Those who do stay on top never forget where they were. You maybe become the captain now however at one time you were probably the water boy. Maturity does not mean that you are above all the other members. Another thing is to remember to stay on the goal for purpose and destiny. Also enjoy the adventure on the way too. Remind those who are mentoring you that you’re thankful what they are doing for you. Those who are with you that they will make the finish line too and most of all those who are on first base that they will make it home to score the winning run. Good day!
