Hazy Days

                                                             Seattle Washington

Here in Washington State we are having a lot of smoke in the air. It is bothering my eyes a little but not as much as some other people. I have heard a lot of complaints on social media.

It is so bad that meteorologist’s on television and social media that the smoke is so bad that it is dangerous for a lot of people. For those who feeling really bad should go to their doctor or emergency to see how dangerous it is for them.

The smoke is coming from British Columbia where   forest fires are happening once again this year. It is the second year in a row where the fires have been really bad. Last year the fires happened near Williams Lake where my cousins live and they had to evacuate for a couple weeks. This time more west and east of Williams Lake well as north. Though we are being affected in the Seattle, Tacoma, Bremerton and Gig Harbor by the smoke it is more so further north like near Bellingham and Lynden that are near the Canadian border. Showing a few pictures to so how bad it is below.

We should be all thankful for those who are first responders and medical professionals who can for our lives. They have chosen to use their life purpose to help others in such an extraordinary way.  Any time you meet one of the people please thank them for the jobs they are doing. This is the same way we hope others thank us for what we are doing as well. The more thankful for us all a better world we can live in.

A Good Listener

I admit at times I am not a very good listener. While the other person is talking I am thinking what I am going to say next instead of paying attention to them.

It is important that we do listen to others. This is especially true if we want to help them. Actually listening to them helps them more than anything else.  People want others to hear what they have to say and that is enough sometimes. We can respond if necessary as well.

People will reach out to you because they know that you care and that you will listen to them. Listening makes the job very easy and we can learn a lot about the person that way.

Our response can be in a few words or even a hug or handshake depending on how comfortable they feel around us.

Every day I am getting better in listening to the other person. It does take time to become a good listener and even better if we have a good heart.

Often people look how we interact with others before approaching us. So not only the person you are listening to finds it important those around them as well.

When you respond back to what they have said give them your experience or it could be a nice smile. Often they have been waiting a long time for someone to talk to them and listen.

My dad was a very good listener. Unlike me he didn’t do a lot of talking however he gave words of wisdom and insight when he did. I believe there is not anything better than that.

It can take time to get good at being a listener however take baby steps at first and I am sure all things will turn out right. If you are a good listener right now then others are benefiting from your experience and we can all learn from you.

What Means To Us

Another thing is what means to us that are important. Usually that turns out to be our purpose in life.

Our hearts will stir us in the right direction for our purpose and destiny. It may take some time or the direction may change as well.

What are purposes today could be different tomorrow as well. Circumstances can dictate the purposes. It doesn’t mean that we will totally turn away from our overall purpose but for a period of time.

For example I am taking care of my mother. This purpose of course will last as long as she is alive or her health gets worse that I can’t help her any longer. She will be ninety-eight in five weeks and she is doing well for her age up to this point. Her memory isn’t always good but for her age it is pretty sharp. Often she doesn’t know the day of the week or time of day but she is able to do crossword puzzle and she plays bridge twice a week. She does sleep longer than she used to but that is probably expected as well. I now have to give her pills other words she wouldn’t know which ones to take or when.

I do have to do some planning since I don’t know how much longer she has to live. I am sure we all do when it comes to our purposes as well.

I believe to that our purposes will grow over time as well. This is especially true when we get toward retirement age. We have to figure what we will do with our time and who to spend it with. Often grandchildren play a part in our purposes as well. We may be asked to do things we never were ever asked to do before as well.

These purposes will make us become better people too. We will have the time to explore our purposes. In the meantime do what you feel means the most to you.

Building Yourself Up

When it comes to building yourself up it is for the benefit for all.
We all will be better people by building ourselves up. It is the purpose we have for others as well.
There are different ways to build ourselves up.

We need to build by staying healthy.
Have a strong spiritual life
Meditate daily
Letting others know how much they mean to us
Be friends to those who need to have friends
Laugh even when times are tough
Face the opposition. Not everyone is our friend.
Love our enemies. By doing so we might add a friend.
Search wherever you may go. You might find what you need to be built up.
Spend time with those who are building themselves up as well. You may learn from them and them from you.
Be smart in everything that you do.
These are a good place to start. I am sure we will find more for both us and those we run into.

What Are You Seeking?

In the gospel of Matthew in chapter six verse thirty-three it says to seek ye first the Kingdom of God and everything will be granted to you.

A question we all have to ask is what are we seeking above anything else. I am sure we all are seeking different things above the Kingdom of God. I know that I do at different times.

You read the verses before thirty-three Jesus ask why are you worried about what you wear or even eat. He will take care of you go after the Kingdom of God.

I know it is not an easy task. Every day I am trying to seek his Kingdom. Often other things distract me in doing so. Being human beings we have desires that are only temporary and we go after them anyway.

When I see other people wherever I go the thought of God is not on most people’s mind; for many just getting by is what they are trying to do but that is what Jesus said not to worry about those things.

So we should all seek after God. He is the one with the answers and he is the one that wants to take care of us because he loves us so much but we don’t look in his direction most of the time. Right now do what he says we might be surprised what may happen. Amen!

Enjoying This

I am sure all of you who having been reading my posts is enjoying it very much. I know every day I enjoy writing and posting to you.

This week my posts have doubled in reading so I know it is having an impact on others and I am so grateful to everyone.

I know the impact is not only helping others but is helping myself as well.  I go through the same troubles as everyone else does hoping the purposes in my life are a benefit to others well as me.

Every day I think about what I am going to write here. Most of it comes about because of my daily journey. Not only what I experience but what I am learning in the process. This is what it is all about what we are learning about ourselves and others at the same time.

When I see and look at others I wonder what they are thinking and what kind of people they are. What benefit I can give to them at the same time what I can learn from them. It doesn’t have to be in words but by their actions as well. In the end what can we learn from each other that will make us better people.

Happy For Reunions

What I like this time of the year is to be able to go to reunions whether it is for school or any other reason. It is always nice to pick up where you left off the last time you saw any of these people even if it has been years and what their life is like now and to update yours as well.

This weekend I will be going to reunion of a church I attended for over twenty years that no longer exist any longer. There will be a few that will be attending that go to my current church as well but the majority I haven’t seen for a while.

It is sad when you here though that some can’t attend for one reason or another. Of course there is those who don’t want go to reunions at all which is a shame. My cousin Jimmy for many years didn’t go to any family reunions and now he attends as many as he can. He realized it was a mistake not going.

I have a second reunion in two weeks for my high school class. I have seen several of them in the last year or two however there are some I haven’t seen in many years or not since high school. It will be so good to catch up with them.

Although I have friends since high school there is nothing like those who knew you way back when. Also good to see where they have gone since high school and the families they have now.

So if you haven’t been to a reunion in a while I recommend that you go to one when the opportunity arises. Not only good to catch up but may be you will have a chance to start a new friendship with them. Remember that both of you have changed over the years. None of us are who we used be.

Our Importance

I was reading in the local paper on Wednesday morning after knowing that I would write about importance.

Steve Smith Sr. who played many years in the NFL and now is on the NFL Network mentioned that he had dealt with depression and felt alone on many occasions. It shows to me no matter where we are at in this world we can deal with depression. Also we remember comedian Robin Williams’s committing suicide after dealing with depression as well.

I believe it is so important that we realize that we have importance in this world as well. We continually have to remember that we have a purpose in this life and a destiny to live out.

We not only have to remind ourselves of the fact but to remind others too. Being with people we care very much about will make things much better.

I know that I have to deal with depression especially when I am in a big group setting. I feel much better when I am in small groups though it doesn’t always work. The greatest thing to remember is that depression is always around. I don’t think we all deal with depression in the same way. There are those who have it because of mental illness but there are us that deal with it in other ways.

I have never taken medicine for depression and never plan too. Letting people in my life that can care for me is the solution I look for. This is a reason that I write this blog as well because the more I can lift each of you up I can do the same for me. Also important to set myself aside and spend time with God. Amen!

You’re Intent

When it comes to our purpose we need to have the right intensions as well. I am sure there are those who think their lives are the most important and everyone else has to honor or think well of them. While others believe that their purpose for the good of everyone; so we have to ask ourselves what is our intent when it comes to our purpose in life.

I figure now that I know my purpose in life it is to share with as many people as possible. I know that some people will listen while others will not and I am fine with that. Actually that is all anyone of us can do.

I know that some people will accept me the way I am while others will not. Actually that is how it always has been. I figure those who don’t accept me it is their loss. The reason is not because I am a great person but I do have something to offer for each one even if it is only a tiny piece.

I feel it is not what I say but what my actions are behind me. I believe people get more from what they see than what someone says. It has taken me a while to figure that out but I believe that is the truth.

So our true intensions should be just being ourselves and everything will out for the best. This is the reason for purpose in our life to give the best we can.

Being Faithful

When it comes to our purpose the main thing is to be faithful to those people we are around and spend time with like family and friends.

I find in these days it is getting harder and harder for people to do so. I amazed what the divorce rate is right now whether it is in the world or in the church. It is though the lives of others aren’t as important as they are. I understand when the other person isn’t faithful to you but still important to be faithful on your own right.

I know people use excuses like my life isn’t what it was once. Yes I know people change when they get older however we made promises as well that are expected to be until our lives end.

I believe not only are people not true to the other person they are not to themselves either. What I mean by that is the person wants life the way they want it and turns out different they decide it is time to move on. The big problem is when you have children not only the person you gave promises to are hurt so are those children. It is no wonder the world is so screwed up along with those in the church.

Another thing that amazes me these same people go into another relationship and often get married thinking it will work out fine this time. I wonder why people do this.  Anyway let being faithful to everyone including yourself be your trademark. You will be happier this way to.

Important to Relax

I have mentioned before we shouldn’t be serious here all the time. Of course I am here to encourage all of us to do what our purpose and calling in life is however we need to take time out to relax as well.

I figure though even when we are out and about relaxing when the opportunity arises to use our gifts and talents too. There is never a time out to care for others especially when they are in need. In fact I believe in the time of relaxation the opportunities to help others can happen more frequently because we aren’t into doing our stuff at the moment.

I wish you a wonderful week and that life is being kind to you. It is always nice to see others around the globe reading this blog. I always want to lift everyone up. Peace and amen!

A Leader

I have heard on several occasions primarily in sermons that we are all leaders even if the only person we lead is ourselves.

I know that some people don’t want to be leaders or they felt never could be one. I am one that felt that I could never be a leader however I have over time realized that isn’t true.

A leader may have another name like mentor or supervisor; if you are in charge of a group than you are a leader. I believe to that you are living out your purpose in life than you are a leader as well.

In the United States often people have trouble being a follower. Being a team player is hard to do. I believe it has to do with an independent spirit. It all goes back to the founding of the country. Many people are immigrants or their parents, or grandparent or even further back than that depending on how long their family has lived in the United States. Most came to the country because of how they were treated whether it had to do with religion or something else.

In the Bible it talks about the husband being the ruler or leader of his home. Over many years that function has been misused or abused. Also talks about women to be submissive to their husband. Another problem because of the misuse or abuse of submission; a husband or any leader should not rule with what I would call an iron fist. The Bible mentions to that the husband should love his wife as well. Sometimes I believe husbands forget this part. I think that some husbands believe in the wrong manner what being submissive by their wife. It doesn’t mean that you have the right to tell her what she has to do and talk negative about her. A husband and a wife are equals just someone has to be in charge or be the leader just like in a group, team, business or home. Things go much better when the leader or husband treats with respect or love. I have heard something else several times and that is a happy wife is a happy life; very profound and true at the same time.

At the same time a husband should not disrespect his wife it goes the other way as well. It is important that the wife doesn’t put down her husband either. My opinion a wife that submits to her husband and a husband that loves his wife everything should go well most of the time. Of course there will be times when they disagree but in the end they should come to an agreeable understanding.

So my advice to a leader is to treat those under you the same way that you want to be treated. Things will be done and completed in good fashion if done correctly. As a leader a function of the job if you want to call it that is to bring vision. I hope this helps everyone out.

Thinking Positive

I find it not the easiest thing to do however we need to think positive as much as we can.

I do have to admit it is a hard thing to do. I admire those who have been able to do so over a long period of time.

I believe that life is a lot better when we do think positive. It doesn’t mean that everything will turn out alright however it certainly helps.

I believe that God wants us to think positive because he wants us to meditate on the good things in life. It is good to go someplace that we feel comfortable at and wait on him. God is the one with the answers along with peace.

Psalm 23 says that he is our shepherd and that we can lay down by green pastures and leads us by quiet waters. Also he refreshes our soul even when we go into the darkest valleys. We don’t have to fear evil because he comforts us. He prepares a table for us in front of our enemies. Isn’t that wonderful words to hear especially when things are not going so well. These are positive words to mediate on. Go to the place that you feel comfortable at and lay your head down. Have joy that is beyond our own understanding. Amen!

A Good Life

We can all have a good life. It begins with us making good choices along the way.

Life might not start on good footing and make us go the wrong way as well. I know that because as a young child I had obstacles to overcome like being burned when I was four years old and at the same time having a hearing problem.

The hearing problem was over when I was five years old however it took me several years to get over the obstacles of it.

I heard a lady on Thursday while having lunch with my mother that said that the youth today are soft and those that end their lives don’t realize the future has a lot of positive in store. She mentioned that she had to overcome abuses including bullying. Yes life doesn’t always give us a break we have to make the breaks ourselves. Not an easy road to walk. Another reason we have a purpose is to help others who are having a hard time walking the road right now and to see that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

So enjoy your good life or change the life to become good. We have choices to make and it is important to make the right ones. Need help there are those around you that can help you.

Having An Impact

We have an impact in others’ lives whether we know it or not. Several months ago at a home group the host Les told the group that the first time he and I met he knew we were going to be friends. It was the first time I had heard that and made me feel good about it.

I am sure that other people have felt the same way though they haven’t said anything. I know that there are people that made differences in my life and I am a better person for it. I am sure you do too.

Our impact is felt in ways that we have no idea about. The most important thing is to love and care for people. Also doesn’t hurt that we live our lives just being ourselves.

Often I see people in the way they are around others and how their children act as well. In most cases their children are wonderful and respectful of others. It doesn’t mean at the same time that your children aren’t good that you are a bad parent either. The fact is some children just don’t turn out right either despite how the parents raise them. The same goes for children who don’t have good parents. Often people have to overcome bad situations in their lives.  A good parent doesn’t happen because you have a bad apple in the box but if all the children are good kids I expect the parents have done a good job or the kids were lucky or blessed despite the parents.

Anyway whatever you are doing to make an impact keep doing. The world needs as many impact people around as possible.

Challenges of Life Purpose

First of all hello August; I have a couple of reunions coming up this month. It will be nice to see many of the people I haven’t seen for a while. I hope the temperatures will be less than July since it was a hot month. Of course I still want to see plenty of the sun.

The two biggest challenges of living a life of purpose believing in ourselves and others believe in us to. Let you know that it doesn’t matter how big our purposes are the fact is we have a purpose and reason to be here. What we have to offer is important whether big or small. Actually the small purposes can be or should I say are as important as the big ones. People will likely remember the small ones more than the big ones. How you measure whether they are big or small doesn’t really matter either.

Another challenge is taking the time to be involved in our purposes. Often the busy of life can get in the way however life should be doing our purposes. Being a husband or wife raising children and grandchildren that takes up a lot of your purpose in life already; what other things you do is gravy.

Along the way there will be other challenges to do your purpose which is OK. You may be discovering new purposes you have in life just don’t forget the old ones. If you and your family have moved because of a new job that brings new challenges in itself; getting to know your co-workers and those living in your neighborhood and church. Remember though to keep in contact with the close friends you have met over the years. I thought about saying left behind but that sounds negative to me but decided to add here as well.

Any way press on through the challenges and let your purposes shine on.

Look to Yourself

When it comes to our life purpose we have to look to ourselves. We have to pray and meditate however God usually brings it down to us.

We can ask our family and friends whether they agree with what we may hear because they know us better than anyone except God himself.

I have had prayer in several instances where God gave me a couple choices to pick from. I am not saying he will do that for everyone but I have gotten that enough times to know it is true.

God doesn’t want us to be selfish however he knows to what we have in our hearts when it comes to desire. Also we must trust that the desires will come to pass though we may be waiting for a long time.

Our purpose in life has to do with what will make us happy and to do with our gifts and talents. I am sure you know that if you have read this blog enough times from me.

Usually your family and friends will confirm what already has been placed in your heart but wait for the timing to happen. Amen!

Enjoy Using Humor

My sister when she returned home from her visit she emailed me thanking for the good time we had and taking care of our mother. She ended up mentioning how I used humor to help mother out when giving her medicine and doing her exercises.

We all have several gifts and talents that we have available to us on a daily basis. Although I would not say that humor is at the top of the list I still believe it can be used along with the other gifts. When the people we spend our time with or help whether we encourage them with compassion or hospitality humor has a spot to be part of it as well. This is especially true when someone is in grief or a dark valley. Humor will allow the person to come out of grief or dark valley even if it is just for a few minutes.  The funerals and memorial services I have been to those who speak about the love one that has passed on talks about the good times they shared and humor is always involved in it.

This is surely a good gift to have to go along with the other ones. It is important though to keep the right perspective when using humor and with whom you do it with as well. Everyone has a different way of handling things. Although humor is good medicine it may not apply to everyone. Good day and laugh when you can.

Take a Risk

We all know in the back of our minds to be a successful man or woman at times we have to take a risk.

Most people that have started businesses that have become big companies had to take a risk. I know to that most of them have failed once or several times before becoming successful.  Even the businesses that have been successful those people had others that doubted what they could accomplish. Everything we have in this world right now started with a risk.

The gifts and talents that we have along with our purpose in life likely will start with a risk as well. Actually a risk is like having faith in what we believe in. Faith is where we begin however the risk is what we follow through with. So the next time you have an idea or helping another person go for it despite the risk that might be involved in it. If you have failed before it is still important to continue on. Best for you the risk along with faith will change your life and those who are involved with you.

Intelligence

We all have intelligence to some degree or another unless you have a handicap.

I believe that most people are very intelligent because that was given to us as a gift. I didn’t realize this until recently because I had a handicap as a young child not able to hear until I was five years. At the same time I wasn’t able to speak in my native tongue of English. It affective me so much that I wasn’t able to read at my level until tenth grade in high school when I took a speed reading class. I actually still use some of what I learned in the class.

Although it was a tough time I don’t regret it because so much part of me. I know that I can use my intelligence to help others and I believe that is true for all of us.

A gift that we live with on a daily basis is what we call our intelligence. Something we shouldn’t take likely as well. I am sure there are those that have pride in their intelligence but I believe the important thing is to be humble with our intelligence. Like I have said about all of our gifts we have to use them for helping others. We are blessed to have intelligence especially when we look at those who are handicapped however we should never feel pity on them because they have gifts of their own that we may never understand or appreciate.

So if you don’t understand all of your gifts or what your purpose is in life one thing to do is use your intelligence. Amen!

Good Times

This week has been good times with my sister Barb being here but it ends at some point as well.
Barb will be heading back to her home in Gatineau, Quebec Friday afternoon so we do have a few more hours to spend together before going to the airport.
We had a trip on Monday to Mt. Rainier National Park then did a tour around Gig Harbor on Tuesday followed up on Wednesday going to the Hood Canal. We stopped by Twanoh State Park where we spent many times when we were children. It looks about the same as back in those days. On Thursday we just relaxed however included going to our favorite coffee shop in Gig Harbor.
Look forward to her next visit. Not sure when that will exactly be right now however Barb likely will be retired. She will be retiring at the end of the year. She will let them know about her retirement in September.
In the meantime back to the same life living out my purpose the best I can and to encourage you all to do the same. Also enjoy the lovely summer we have here as well. Thursday it was ninety degrees for the sixth time in July. Let you know that is about normal for around here. In fact until a couple years ago the temperatures never reached ninety degrees. I would have to say global warming for sure. Sunday it is forecasted to be ninety-three degrees to make it the seventh time this month. I know that some people like it this hot however I prefer the high seventies into the mid-eighties. Having sun out is what I truly call the good times. Enjoy this weekend and many blessings to you.

Answers

We all have questions beyond just healing like why people are starving in Africa for instance.

I believe it comes down to what the Bible says that the human race is disobedient to God; there is sin in the world and evil to name a few.

On the positive side as individuals we can flip things and be obedient to God, have less sin our lives and evil too.

There are questions that I have that haven’t been answered yet but I believe that I must have faith for those things to come into my life. There is a possibility some of my questions may never be answered but I still must have faith or I might go crazy too.

Some bad things happen in our lives because we make bad choices as well. We need to be thankful for the blessings we do have at the same time.

My encouragement is that we continue plugging away at doing the best we can and to look to God for the answers in our lives. Meditate on those things that are good. If you open your Bible I recommend reading Psalms. So much of the Psalms speaks words out of our own hearts. May peace be in you today and make the best choices that you can. Amen!

Looking For Healing

A lot of people are looking for healing. Why more are not being healed is a good question. I am not sure of the answer although I do know that people are getting healed.

People look for healing in all sorts of places which is OK however the ultimate place to look is to God. He is the healer that desires to heal us we have to ask and have faith he will.

I am sure there are more healings and miracles happening every day that we may not be aware of.

There are those that God gives to have the gift of healing. I know because I am one of those people. You need healing ask for it right now that the God that Herb knows and trusts heals you along with anyone else you know that needs healing.

Yes healing is a gift that God gives to his servants just like many others. It is one of the purposes God has me here.

Have a great day and may the God of mercies heal you in Jesus Christ name. Amen!

The Day at Mt. Rainier

                            Glorious Mt. Rainier

With my sister here for five days we decided to go up to Mt. Rainier on Monday. Of course this isn’t the normal post for this blog however I feel that traveling can and should be part of our purpose and destiny in life.
It took us just over two hours to get up to Paradise which is one of the major sites to be on the mountain. When I arrived there I found that the visitor center had changed.  I thought it had been remodeled but it actually was replaced with a whole new different looking center since the last time I was there. The new visitor center is OK but I really liked the old one. It had an observation viewing level which the new one doesn’t. The new visitor center looks like most other ones I have seen in national parks. I ended up talking to a gentleman along with a couple other guys who were with him at Paradise Inn where we had lunch in the restaurant. He agreed with me liking the old one better as well. He heard they changed the whole look of the visitor center because it is cheaper to maintain than the old one especially in the winter time. It makes total sense then to me though still disappointed not to see the old one. Of course the major reason to be there is to see the awesome mountain up and personal. Of course the mountain has very little snow in the summer and  I have visited numerous times during the winter when there is a lot of snow. I figure my next visit will be in the winter to show the contrast of the mountain.
Another thing when you view Mt. Rainier down on the mainland like Gig Harbor it looks like more snow is there than actually there is. Anyway we returned home in the early evening where I had to take a nap from the driving along with the little hiking we did.
The main purpose besides telling about our trip along with pictures is to let you know wherever you go can use the gifts and talents you are given to those you meet. Not an easy task because often a place like Mt. Rainier I don’t get a chance to talk with many other visitors but I do with a few and who knows what impact I can make in their lives along with my life.
Enjoy your day and safe travels wherever you are going.

Jump For Joy

We should all jump for joy because we have made it to another day.

We are blessed to be alive to enjoy life to the fullest. Not always easy to say I know.

My sister Barb is visiting this week from Gatineau, Quebec, Canada so mother and I overjoyed that she is here. Barb will be retiring at the end of the year so I do hope for her to stay a bit longer next year.

Here in the Pacific Northwest the summer has been good and hot. In fact it is expected to be in the nineties most of the week which is hotter than normal. Good time of the year to visit if you inclined to travel to these parts.

Today (Monday) we are planning to go visit awesome Mt. Rainier. Though I am able to see it every day unless there is clouds’ covering it takes about two hours to get there. A lodge and observation can be taken in at Paradise. Both have been remodeled since the last time I was there. There are a number of hiking trails that you can take even if you are not planning to do a long hike. As a child my family and I would go up to Paradise to play around in the snow using a toboggan or an inner tube to sled and a great time to jump for joy for sure.

So enjoy your day and jump for joy when the opportunity arises or at least think in your mind anyway. Pease be with you today.

All Things Work Out For Good

When we have faith, hope and love all things work out for good in our lives.

It doesn’t mean that life will be perfect because it won’t be.

It does mean when we do have trouble things will work out for good.

We can choose joy to go along with faith, love and hope when the impossible seems to be far away.

We know what the future will look like. We can be confident everything will work out fine even when it doesn’t look like right now.

Even walking in darkness we know that light is right around the corner.

We will have peace during times of war.

Having full confidence living in the life of purpose because everything is not about us; it is about everyone that we spend time with as well.

So when things look bleak let the faith in all things working out for good. Amen!

People Are Crazy

One thing I know is that people are crazy. Not all the time but some of the time.

It is a serious matter when there are some that go really crazy when it comes to mental illness. It is amazing to think how many are in the county I live in. They are in process of building a large mental hospital. I wonder though how much they can really be helped.

I am sure there are those that think that I am a bit crazy which is fine. We are all created uniquely so having some craziness involved only makes sense.

We need to help those who are crazy in the wrong way and embrace those who are in the right way.

It is easy to take things serious however acting a little crazy is good for us too. It is important though keeping it in perspective. Those who are crazy in the wrong way need to know that they are not alone. We need to help those who haven’t gotten to the stage of the illness.

So let your life be a bit crazy because we are all a little crazy. Like all areas of our lives things can change because we are close like good and evil. What our gifts we have is too help others wherever they are.

Friendship

A spouse, children, siblings and cousins are at the top my list when it comes to love and friendship however we have friends that are special to us that are not on that list they are as important to us as family.

Those who have been friends for a lifetime are special indeed although new friends are too. The more friends we have the better we are but there will always be a short list that is above all others.

True friends are those we can open ourselves up to like no others. We can share the good, the bad, and the ugly too. We know that they will be on our side no matter what comes down.

Yes we all have a purpose and destiny in this life. Those friendships are part of the purpose and destiny. Whatever we are called to they have been placed to be part of it. We can use our purposes in their lives well as they do in ours.

Those friendships have a lot to do with who we are. The longest ones what shaped us to be who we are today and the same in them.

Let your close friends know how important they are in your life. Use their friendship to bring out the more of you. They are important part of your purpose in life and you in theirs. Have a great weekend enjoy yourself. Amen!

Keeping a Good Attitude

These days it isn’t always easy to keep a good attitude with differences of opinions. In fact it isn’t easy to keep your mouth shut or to write what you feel whatever the subject is about.

I find the importance is to be consistent and not put others down even though you may not feel the same way they do.

I believe others respect you when you are able to keep your opinions away or you respect them anyone.

I wish people would stop using social media to throw out their opinions on their beliefs but I know that won’t stop at all.

I find that I pass along or hide their posts. In fact I now hide the posts that come from a third party figuring I won’t see as many that way.

No matter what you say people are going to do what they want to do anyway and they have said so. At least in the United States of America we have the constitution that gives us freedom of speech. It is a good thing because I know that there are countries where the people are not able to give their opinions about anything.

Although we have the freedom of speech doesn’t stop companies from not hiring you if they don’t agree with your stance on any subject. It is one of the underlying parts that can’t always be proven.

We don’t have the perfect government however I believe it is still the best that is offered in the world.

So whatever you do keep your chin high and keep your mouth shut when necessary. I have found families being split because they don’t agree on politics. We should realize that family and friends are more important.

What many may not realize is that much of it has to do with religious spirits. You will find reading the Bible much of the problem dealt with religion. Yes I am a Christian but it is important to live in grace and not under the law.

This is another thing about our good attitude we are living under grace. Amen!

Meant To Live a Life Of Purpose!

We are all meant to live a life of purpose we just have to figure it out and what to with it as well.

God gave us all multiple gifts and talents to help others wherever we go.

For some it may be a writer, or for others a job nine to five or those in the acting field or those who are an athlete.  In fact you could be a mother caring for your children. It is probably the highest honor there is while your husband is at work. Of course there are some mothers that have to work as well. In this day and age either spouse can work in the home as well. They have the home as their office. It is what my brother Jack does while his wife is teaching. All four of their children are now out of the home and they have all finished college. Two of them are married themselves now.

I currently take care of our mother while writing this blog to encourage you to live a life of purpose. Also I enjoy sports so I write about sports as well. I plan to increase my blogging in the future as well. I have a website www.herbnightingale.com where I have links to my blogs well as adding more including pictures.

My mother is ninety-seven years old getting closer to ninety-eight in a couple months. She is in pretty good health for her age. It is hard to know how long she will be able to stick around.

So taking care of her is part of my purpose of life at this time. It will be interesting to see changes happen over the next few years depending on how she does and how much longer she lives. I hope to be able to travel some and write a book as well.

I hope that I can get married one of these days as well. It will be gratifying to meet a woman to love and enjoy the same passions together. It would be nice to get her insight on how she sees the purpose of life we live in as well. I want to be able to grow with her coming alongside me.

I hope that your purpose and destiny is going just the way you like it. The important thing is that time can change all things. Ask God what he has in mind for you if you haven’t figured it out yet. Talk with family and friends because they can give you insight. Life won’t always go the way we want it however the clearer we realize our purpose the better. Amen!!

Confidence

We all need to have confidence whether it is in ourselves or our governments, friends, or others.

Most people I think are good people or at least they try to be. The news or social media tries to make it seem so different than it ought to be.

I enjoy those who share positive thoughts and encouragements. I am glad that I am not the only one sharing encouragement every day.

If you are not on Twitter because you don’t think it is a good social media site I would differ. I get encouragement from several different people and most of them I don’t know at all on a personal basis. They are my friends now because of what they have done each and every day.

We need to be confident that we have a lot to offer others even when it is a small thing or you give one word.

May you have peace, love and joy today. Let your heart shine along with your smile. I know everyone that you meet along your path will be overjoyed. Amen!

It’s Monday

Hello everyone it’s Monday the least favorite day of the week for many. At least that has been my impression anyway. I haven’t heard many say “Thank God it’s Monday.”

Monday is a great day if it is a three day weekend or you don’t work on Monday’s anyway. My last job when I first started working there I had Monday’s off for a while because I had to work Saturday’s. I have to say working Saturday’s was not much fun because most everyone I knew didn’t work Saturday’s and they were having fun. Having Monday’s off did the other affect knowing that you had the day off while others had to work.

The good thing of having Monday’s off was able to get things done that you couldn’t on a Saturday like making an appointment at the doctor’s or getting an oil change for your car.

When the opportunity arose I did change my work schedule where I got Saturday’s off. So then I got to enjoy going to work on Monday instead. I wonder how many would enjoy Monday’s better if they had to work on a Saturday or Sunday previously.

Whatever the case is have the attitude that you are going to enjoy Monday regardless how you have felt up to this point or how anyone else feels. You can be that person other’s look at and think why he or she so happy on Monday. Oh by the way drink another cup or two of coffee as well. Good Monday everyone!!

Family Traveling in Europe

This week my niece Leslie posted a lot of pictures on Facebook from her trip along with her husband Daniel to France and Sweden. Many of the photos were of churches and cathedrals. It was easy to tell with all the stain-glass windows.

They spent a week in France and another week in Sweden. They had been in France before however the first time in Sweden. At the same time they were on their trip her brother Danny was traveling in Italy then spent a couple days in France before meeting up in Moscow, Russia with his brother Robbie. They were there for the World Cup. They saw two matches with one in Moscow and the other in St. Petersburg. I am sure they had a grand time beyond seeing the World Cup.

I don’t think Danny and Robbie are as much into taking pictures as Leslie so not sure whether they will download any on Facebook I will have to see. I did get to see a few pictures of Danny and his traveling mates as they met up with Leslie and Daniel in Marseille. The background was familiar to me since I did spend a day in Marseille when I traveled through France several years ago. All that part of the world is beautiful.

As they all returned home my nephews Ken and Connor traveled to Berlin. Expecting some pictures from them for sure; Ken in fact mentioned he would do so. It is interesting that most of the next generation is traveling this summer while we spend our time at home however I am expecting a visit soon from my sister Barb who is the mother of Ken and Connor.

I have friends who are traveling in England and Ireland right now as well. Look forward to hear stories from them as well.

It is a good time to travel although the weather here is fantastic right now. I hope to travel in the future myself.

When possible though use your gifts and talents with people who are in other countries as well. We have to remember that everyone needs to receive them not just our family and friends. So when you travel do the best you can to fit in with the residences. I am sure they will appreciate it well as you. Safe travels around the globe everyone.

A Step At a Time

We all know at times life can be difficult and rough. We all have had times of sorrow or despair. Whatever we have gone through we must take a step at a time.

We shouldn’t look ahead to the future but take one day at a time whether it is a step, a second, a minute or an hour. Of course we may make plans for the future however today the moment we are living is.

We need to encourage one another in love. When someone is looking like they are falling we must help them to pick themselves up. Unfortunately we live in a world that sometimes what we do is not enough as well however we must try in our efforts to do so.

So when you take your step forward think and pray for those that are going through difficult times regardless of the circumstances. Speak words of life when appropriate and never give up on them or yourself. Amen!
